Use the Data Transport offline data migration service to upload tens of terabytes or even petabytes of data to Alibaba Cloud. This service applies to scenarios in which your local network bandwidth is insufficient for the volume of data and expanding the bandwidth is costly.
Can I migrate data from the cloud to an on-premises data center?
You can migrate data from Alibaba Cloud OSS to an on-premises data center. To do this, submit a ticket to contact Alibaba Cloud technical support.
How much data can I migrate by using Data Transport?
You can migrate any amount of data. Select a Data Transport device type based on the volume of data that you need to migrate. Three device types are available: Data Transport Micro (20 TB), Data Transport II (100 TB), and Data Transport III (1 PB). To migrate a larger amount of data, use multiple Data Transport devices together.
How long does it take to migrate data by using a Data Transport device?
A Data Transport device provides two 10 Gbps network interfaces for data migration. The actual transfer speed depends on the read throughput of the data source, the bandwidth of the switch, and the number and size of the files. For example, the more small files you migrate, the slower the transfer speed.
Which data sources are supported?
The Data Transport offline data migration service supports the following data sources:
Source: Files on local storage, on-premises shared storage such as Network Attached Storage (NAS), and other data sources
Destination: Alibaba Cloud OSS
Is my data encrypted during migration?
Yes. The Data Transport offline data migration service supports data encryption during migration.
How do I restart or shut down a Data Transport device?
To shut down a Data Transport Micro device, use the console.
For Data Transport II and III devices, run the reboot command in a terminal window to restart the device, or run the poweroff command to shut down the device.
