Seekster is the largest tech platform in Thailand that helps customers hire trusted professionals for services, ranging from plumbing to house cleaning and more. Seekster uses a detailed and concise screening system to allocate the right service providers based on the type of work and time period to meet customers’ needs.

Seekster faced two major challenges when choosing the right cloud provider to support its services, namely, the pricing of cloud subscription models and the availability of migration support services. Its major requirement was a cost-effective and flexible cloud subscription model as well as seamless migration support that can help with its cloudification journey.

Seekster was looking for best-in-class cloud consultation services to support its dynamic and rapidly growing business environment. Given its advanced suite of cloud computing services with flexible billing options, Alibaba Cloud became a clear choice for Seekster. With cost-effective and versatile monthly or annual saving subscriptions and a pay-as-you-go model, Seekster was able to achieve the elasticity it required while paying only for what it consumed.

Seekster migrated its application to Kubernetes using Alibaba Cloud Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK). In order to perform this migration efficiently, Seekster leveraged the Cloud Migration tool by Alibaba Cloud.
For product deployment, Seekster leveraged a blue-green deployment approach to reduce the risks and potential downtime of its applications. In this approach, an earlier version of the application is hosted in the blue environment, while the newer version of the application is hosted in the green environment. Users are then gradually migrated to the green environment from the blue environment. Once all the users are successfully redirected, the blue environment is removed from production.
This transition is made successful with Alibaba Cloud DNS and Server Load Balancer. With these products, Seekster was able to perform a DNS swap seamlessly through the use of CNAME and the provisioning of auto scaling groups.

Partnering with Alibaba Cloud helped Seekster with the successful cloud migration of its application. Seekster hopes to continue partnering with Alibaba Cloud and deliver more value to customers by leveraging its wide-range of cutting-edge cloud computing services.
