UNESCO-ICHEI and Alibaba Cloud Sign MoU to Empower Education with AI

During the Apsara Conference 2024, Alibaba Cloud signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with UNESCO-ICHEI to jointly launch the GenAI and Cloud Micro-Certification online program.

On September 19, during the Apsara Conference 2024, Alibaba Cloud signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) to jointly launch the GenAI and Cloud Micro-Certification online program, aiming to popularize GenAI technology to higher education institutes around the world including Asia and Africa.

A New Chapter in AI-Enhanced Learning

This program features several courses designed to help educators and students in higher education institutions across Asia and Africa understand the fundamentals of GenAI and cloud computing, and apply them to teaching activities and daily learning. For instance, educators can learn how to use large languages models to prepare teaching materials, design class activities, create teaching plan and assessments to make learning more engaging, personalized, and efficient.

Joint Certification, Empowering the Globe

After completing each course, educators and students can take an exam to obtain a micro certification jointly issued by UNESCO-ICHEI and Alibaba Cloud. With the gradual rollout of the program, the initiative aims to benefit around 12,000 educators and students globally by the end of 2025.
