ACK Serverless propose la mise à l'échelle verticale automatique des pods via le Vertical Pod Autoscaler (VPA). Une fois le VPA déployé et installé sur un cluster ACK serverless, il définit automatiquement les limites de ressources des pods en fonction de leur consommation. Le cluster peut ainsi planifier les pods sur des nœuds disposant de ressources suffisantes. Le VPA conserve également le ratio entre les demandes et les limites de ressources issu de la définition initiale du conteneur. Cette rubrique explique comment implémenter la mise à l'échelle verticale automatique des pods à l'aide d'un fichier YAML.
Prérequis
Vérifiez que les conditions suivantes sont remplies :
Vous avez créé un cluster Kubernetes version 1.12 ou ultérieure. Pour plus d'informations, consultez la section Créer un cluster ACK serverless.
Vous êtes connecté au cluster via l'interface de ligne de commande. Pour plus d'informations, consultez la section Obtenir le fichier kubeconfig d'un cluster et utiliser kubectl pour se connecter au cluster.
Vous avez désinstallé toutes les installations existantes du VPA dans le cluster. Cela évite les conflits avec la nouvelle installation du VPA, qui pourraient rendre ce dernier indisponible.
Contexte
La fonctionnalité de mise à l'échelle verticale automatique des pods est expérimentale. Utilisez-la avec précaution.
La mise à jour de la configuration des ressources d'un pod en cours d'exécution constitue une fonctionnalité expérimentale du VPA. Cette opération reconstruit et redémarre le pod, qui peut être planifié sur un nœud différent.
Le VPA n'évince pas les pods non gérés par un ReplicationController. Pour ces pods, le mode Auto équivaut au mode Initial.
Le VPA ne peut pas s'exécuter simultanément avec un Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) qui surveille les métriques CPU et mémoire. La seule exception concerne les HPA qui surveillent uniquement d'autres métriques personnalisées ou externes.
Le VPA utilise un webhook d'admission pour le contrôle d'admission. Si d'autres webhooks d'admission existent dans le cluster, assurez-vous qu'ils n'entrent pas en conflit avec le webhook du VPA. L'ordre d'exécution des contrôleurs d'admission est défini dans les paramètres de configuration de l'API Server.
Le VPA gère la plupart des événements d'épuisement de la mémoire (OOM), mais son efficacité n'est pas garantie dans tous les scénarios.
Les performances du VPA n'ont pas été testées sur des clusters à grande échelle.
Les valeurs de demande de ressources modifiées par le VPA peuvent dépasser les limites de ressources, telles que les limites de ressources des nœuds, les ressources disponibles ou les quotas de ressources. Cela peut entraîner le passage des pods à l'état Pending et empêcher leur planification. Vous pouvez utiliser le Cluster Autoscaler pour résoudre ce problème.
Si plusieurs VPA correspondent au même pod, cela peut provoquer un comportement indéfini.
