Anti-DDoS:Add the domain name that is added to an Anti-DDoS Proxy instance to a different Anti-DDoS Proxy instance

Last Updated:Mar 28, 2024

If you want to add the domain name of your service to multiple Anti-DDoS Proxy instances or if the current Anti-DDoS Proxy instance expires, you can modify the settings of the added domain name to migrate the service to the new instance without service interruptions. This topic describes how to modify the settings of an added domain name.

Add the domain name of your service to multiple instances

You can add the domain name of your service to multiple instances in the following scenarios:

  • The specifications of a single instance cannot meet your business requirements. If you want to distribute your service traffic to multiple instances, you can add the domain name of your service to multiple instances.

  • You want to implement load balancing, redundancy, redirection to the nearest protection node, or weight-based redirection. In this scenario, you can add the domain name of your service to multiple instances.

  • You want to accelerate service access in cross-border scenarios. In this scenario, you can add the domain name of your service to an Anti-DDoS Proxy (Outside Chinese Mainland) instance of the Insurance or Unlimited mitigation plan and an Anti-DDoS Proxy (Outside Chinese Mainland) instance of the Chinese Mainland Acceleration (CMA) mitigation plan.

Usage notes

After you modify the settings for the domain name that is added to your instance, the instance forwards traffic of the domain name as normal during the DNS record change. This ensures service continuity. After you remove the domain name from the instance, the instance forwards traffic for the domain name for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the instance no longer forwards traffic for the domain name.

Before you remove the domain name from the instance, make sure that a different domain name is added to the instance and uses the same port as the domain name to be removed. Otherwise, traffic cannot be forwarded. For example, you want to remove Domain name 1 from Instance 1 and the server port is set to 80 in the settings of Domain name 1. Before you remove Domain name 1 from Instance 1, make sure that a different domain name is added to Instance 1 and an server port is set to 80 in the settings of the domain name.

Limits

  • You cannot add the domain name of your service to both instances of the Standard and Enhanced function plans.

  • You can add the domain name of your service to a maximum of eight instances of the Function Plan.

  • The domain name that is configured in the DNS records must be consistent with the domain name that is added to the instance. If the domain name is not added to the instance, service traffic of the domain name cannot be forwarded by the instance.

Create an instance

  1. Log on to the Anti-DDoS Proxy console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region of your instance.

    • Anti-DDoS Proxy (Chinese Mainland): If your instance is an Anti-DDoS Proxy (Chinese Mainland) instance, select Chinese Mainland.

    • Anti-DDoS Proxy (Outside Chinese Mainland): If your instance is an Anti-DDoS Proxy (Outside Chinese Mainland), select Outside Chinese Mainland.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Provisioning > Website Config.

  4. Find the domain name that you want to manage, click Edit in the Actions column, select the instance to which you want to add the domain name, and then click OK.

  5. In the message that appears, confirm the information and click OK.

Remove a domain name from an instance

In this example, a domain name is added to Anti-DDoS instance A and Anti-DDoS instance B. You want to remove the domain name from Anti-DDoS instance A.

  4. Find the domain name that you want to manage and click Edit in the Actions column to view the server port. In this example, the server port 80 is used.

  5. Make sure that the forwarding setting of the server port 80 is retained for Instance A after you remove the domain name from the instance.

    • If a different domain name is added to Instance A and the server port is 80, you do not need to perform any operations.

    • If no other domain names are added to Instance A, add a test domain name to Instance A and set the server port to 80. For more information, see Add one or more websites.

  6. Find the domain name that you want to manage and click Edit in the Actions column. In the Instance section, clear Instance A.

    Important

After you remove the domain name from Instance A, the forwarding setting of the domain name for Instance A is retained for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the service traffic of the domain name cannot be forwarded by Instance A.

  7. Click OK. In the message that appears, confirm the information and click OK.

Add a domain name to a different instance

In this example, a domain name is added to Instance A, and you want to remove the domain name from Instance A and add the domain name to Instance B.

  4. Add the domain name to Instance B and check whether service traffic is forwarded as expected.

    1. Find the domain name that you want to manage and click Edit in the Actions column. In the Instance section, select Instance B and view the server port. In this example, the server port 80 is used.

    2. After approximately 1 hour, click Security Overview in the left-side navigation pane. On the Domain Names tab, check whether service traffic is forwarded as expected.

  6. Remove the domain name from Instance A.

    1. Find the domain name that you want to manage and click Edit in the Actions column. In the Instance section, clear Instance A.

      Important

After you remove the domain name from Instance A, the forwarding setting of the domain name for Instance A is retained for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the service traffic from the domain name cannot be forwarded by Instance A.

    2. Click OK. In the message that appears, confirm the information and click OK.
