ApsaraMQ for Kafka:How do I select the instance edition?

Last Updated:Aug 16, 2023

ApsaraMQ for Kafka provides Standard Edition instances and Professional Edition instances. You can select the instance edition based on the migration requirements of the self-managed Kafka cluster.

  • Standard Edition

    • Traffic specification = Total traffic in the cluster/3 (for optimization)

    • Disk size = Average traffic × Message retention period × 3 (replicas)

    • Number of partitions: based on actual business requirements

      Note

We recommend that you change the number of partitions to reduce costs when you migrate data from a self-managed Kafka cluster to the cloud.

  • Professional Edition

    • Traffic specification = Total traffic in the cluster/3 (for optimization)

    • Disk size = Average traffic × Message retention period × n (replicas)

      Note

When you create a topic, the value of n is 1 for cloud storage and 3 for local storage. For information about the differences between cloud storage and local storage, see Comparison between storage engines.

    • Number of partitions: based on actual business requirements

      Note

We recommend that you change the number of partitions to reduce costs when you migrate data from a self-managed Kafka cluster to the cloud.
