    This document explains how to manage coupons.

    What is a coupon?

    A coupon is a form of virtual credit from Alibaba Cloud. You can use them to offset the cost of cloud products.

    View your coupons

    Navigate to Expenses and Costs > Account > Coupons and click the Coupons tab. This page lists all your coupons and their details, such as serial numbers, face values, remaining balances, applicable products, spending limits, statuses, and validity periods.

    If you are an Enterprise Administrator, you can use the Account filter to view coupons for any account in your organization.

    Note

    • To become an Enterprise Administrator, enable corporate organization management..

    • To view coupons for other accounts, the administrator must have permissions to manage both coupons and the corresponding Cash Accounts. .

    In the Actions column, click View Details to open the Coupon Details page. This page shows details for the selected coupon, such as order/bill no., transaction type, face value, and remaining balance.

    You can also search for coupon details by Usage Time.

    Click the image icon to Export the usage details for the coupon.

    Use a coupon

    On the Order payment page, the system automatically matches applicable coupons based on the Order's Product, Payment Type, and Order Amount.

    Only applicable coupons appear below the Order information. If multiple coupons are available, select the one you want to use.

    Note

    • You can use only one coupon per Order.

    • If multiple coupons are applicable, the default Offset Order is as follows: largest remaining balance > earliest expiration date > earliest issue date.

    • If a coupon has a balance after payment, you can use it for future purchases before it expires. If a coupon's value is less than the Order total, you must pay the difference from your Cash Account.

    • You must select a coupon on the payment page, as they do not appear on the Order confirmation page.

    FAQ

    How can I check for available coupons on my Alibaba Cloud account?

    Coupons are issued directly to your account by Alibaba Cloud. To view your available coupons, navigate to Expenses and Costs > Account > Coupons, then click the Coupons tab. This page lists all your coupons with details such as order/bill no., face value, remaining balance, applicable products, and validity period.

    How can I determine which products and billing scenarios a coupon can be used for?

    • Applicable products: Coupons generally apply to most products on the Alibaba Cloud official website including ECS, OSS, and ApsaraDB RDS, with the main exception of Cloud OS.

    • General-purpose coupons have a specific list of excluded products. For details, see List of products not applicable to general-purpose coupons.

    • Applicable scenarios: Typical use cases include new purchases, renewals, upgrades, OS replacements, and converting a free trial to a paid service.

      Note

      To be certain, always verify a coupon's specific Applicable Products and Applicable Scenarios. You can find this information on the Coupons page or by observing which coupons the system automatically suggests on the order payment page.

    Can I use a coupon to pay for a service renewal?

    Yes, you can use a coupon for a renewal, provided the coupon's terms cover both the product and the Renewal scenario.

    1. Verify eligibility
    Before paying, confirm the coupon is eligible:

    • Go to the Coupons tab in your console.

    • Find the coupon and check that:

      • Its Applicable Products field includes the product you are renewing or is set to General-purpose.

      • Its Applicable Scenarios field includes Renewal or is set to General-purpose.

    2. Apply on payment page
    On the renewal payment page, the system automatically displays all eligible coupons. Select the one you wish to use to offset the cost.

    Can I get an invoice for the portion of an order paid with a coupon?

    No. The portion of an order's cost that is covered by a coupon is not eligible for invoicing.

    What happens to my coupon if I refund a product I purchased with it?

    Generally, once a coupon is used, it cannot be refunded or reissued to your account.

    For example, if you use a coupon to help pay for an ECS instance and later request a refund under the 5-day money-back guarantee, only the cash portion of the payment is refunded. The value of the used coupon is not returned, and the coupon is not reissued.
