Tax ID management

Introduction

In most countries, the tax ID is the taxpayer identification number held by an enterprise or individual and can be categorized into the following types.

Type

Description

Business registration number

The identification number assigned to the company by the local business registry, such as the Companies Registry, when the enterprise is established.

ID card number

The identification number for personal use.

Tax identification number (TIN) or income tax number

The identification number assigned to the company by the taxation bureau after the enterprise or individual completes the income tax registration with the taxation bureau, which is used for the income tax declaration.

Circulation tax number or value-added tax (VAT) number

The identification number assigned to the company by the taxation bureau after the enterprise completes the transfer tax registration with the taxation bureau, which is used for the transfer tax declaration. Only enterprises have VAT numbers.

Enter a tax ID

On the Tax ID tab, confirm your country and company name, enter your tax ID, and upload and submit the tax certificate.

Important

The tax processing of Alibaba Cloud invoices depends on the tax information that you enter. Different countries or regions have different types of tax numbers. Check the tax number carefully.

If you enter a tax ID, make sure that you understand the importance of tax ID correctness. If you specify an incorrect tax ID, which results in additional fees to Alibaba Cloud, such as taxes, penalties, and interests, Alibaba Cloud has the right to demand compensation from you.

If you do not enter a tax ID, the absence of a tax ID may be considered as a business-to-consumer (B2C) transaction. This results in a tax charge, such as VAT.
