    This topic describes the feature differences of Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Spring '24 Release.

    Disclaimer: This feature update note is intended for customers who are planning to or already using Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud. Although every effort has been made in the creation of this note, some errors or omissions may occur. Customers should use the Salesforce global Spring '24 Release notes linked below to help understand and make decisions based on their unique situations.

    This topic describes the feature updates of Salesforce Spring '24 Release, especially the differences that you need to pay attention to between the global Spring '24 Release notes and those of Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    Usage notes

    The regulatory environment for data security and cybersecurity in China is constantly evolving. Laws and regulations such as the Cybersecurity Law (CSL), Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), and Data Security Law (DSL) all define related requirements and specifications for how data is processed and, in particular, how such information is processed and stored within China.

    As a result, some features are unavailable because of legal and regulatory requirements, including the out-of-the-box Content Delivery Network (CDN) service and Salesforce Edge network, as well as third-party contact and account information, such as Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. This also means that some features that use services outside China are unavailable, such as inbox connectors, Einstein machine learning, and AI features, which are not included in Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    Product updates specific to Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud

    Further updates will be available for the following products when they become commercially available:

    • Salesforce Customer Identity

      • This product allows you to establish richer relationships between customers and partners by creating and maintaining a single identity for interactions across all channels.

    • Salesforce Connect

      • This product allows you to access, view, and modify data from external data sources in real time without the need to import data.

    Salesforce Customer Identity

    With customer authentication, customers and partners can self-register, log on, update their profiles, and securely access web and mobile apps by using a single identity. In addition, you can take advantage of the power of the Salesforce platform to tailor customer identities to your specific workflows and brand. You can use the product to store and manage customer and partner user records and authenticate those users in a variety of ways.

    With external authentication licensing, you can access multiple standard objects and 10 custom objects to provide powerful self-service apps. Such licenses cover additional data storage and API requests. Before you launch customer authentication configurations, make sure that your organization has sufficient resources. The following table describes all the object permissions that you can grant to customers and partners, and the permissions that are available for the default license.

    Salesforce Connect

    Salesforce Connect provides seamless integration of data across system boundaries by allowing your users to view, query, and modify data that is outside your Salesforce organization. For example, you have data that is stored on premises in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Instead of copying the data into your organization, you can use external objects to access the data in real time by making web service calls.

    Comments and guide on the use of the global release notes

    Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud is basically the same as the versions in other parts of the world in terms of features. However, some known differences exist, given regional and regulatory considerations. Despite these known differences, the global release content and help documentation remain your go-to guide for understanding the features and updates of Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    The topic provides links to related sections and the guidance applicable to Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    Supported Browsers

    Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud supports the same browsers and devices for Lightning Experience as the global version.

    Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud does not support Salesforce Classic. As a result, this section is not applicable.

    CRM Analytics is unavailable in this region. As a result, this section is also not applicable.

    Salesforce Overall

    Only General Enhancements are applicable to Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud. Take note of the following items:

    • The new setup domain name will not be enabled initially. A subdomain of My Domain will be reserved for the setup page.

    • The upgrade notification for the Salesforce Starter Suite is not applicable. The Starter Suite is unavailable.

    • The release notification for major versions with no downtime is not applicable to Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    Release Updates

    The release update content for Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud is the same as that for the global version. Customers who conduct transactions across multiple regions should pay special attention to enabling International Components for Unicode (ICU) locale formats. This will be implemented in February 2025 and may affect the installed packages and integrations.

    • Apex: New and Changed Items is applicable only to features that are available in Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud. For example, changes to the CommerceTax namespace are not applicable.

    • Most of the changes to ConnectApi (Connect in Apex) are not related to Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud. The only relevant part is Chatter Feeds.

    • API: New and Changed Items: Changes to omnichannel-related features in Commerce, Data Cloud, Field Service, Revenue, Salesforce Scheduler, Connect REST API, CRM Analytics REST API, and Service are unavailable in Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    • Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud does not support the Einstein feature.

    • Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud does not support Data Cloud.

    • Waiting for engagement events relies on Marketing Cloud and is not supported by Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud.

    • Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud does not support the forecasting feature by using AI models.
