Serverless App Engine:Basic monitoring

Last Updated:Nov 08, 2023

After you host an application on Serverless App Engine (SAE), SAE collects and analyzes the CPU, load, memory, network, and disk of the device on which the application runs. The data is displayed in dynamic charts. This helps you view the status of the device on which the application runs in real time. All monitoring data is collected and processed by application.

Usage notes

  • Data can be analyzed approximately 2 minutes after the data is collected. In this case, SAE cannot provide real-time monitoring dashboards.

  • If an application hosted on SAE is upgraded or scaled, the instances of the application change. In this case, the monitoring data is interrupted and becomes discontinuous.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAE console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Applications. In the top navigation bar, select a region. Then, click the name of an application.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane of the Basic Information page, click Basic Monitoring.

  4. On the Basic Monitoring page, select a value from the Resource type drop-down list based on your business requirements. Then, move the pointer over a point in the x-axis of a monitoring chart to view the monitoring data at the point in time.

    • Application: By default, this option is displayed. If you select Application, the average metric values calculated based on all instances are displayed.

    • Instance: The metric values for each instance are displayed. Select Instance from the Resource type drop-down list.

SAE allows you to monitor data based on the following metrics:

    • CPU utilization

    • Average system load

    • Memory usage

    • Network inbound and outbound rate

    • Network packets

    • Disk usage

    • Disk IOPS

    • Disk throughput

    • TCP connections

Note
  • By default, the Basic Monitoring module monitors the grouped data of the previous hour.

  • Before you can view the new metrics of the applications that are created before May 11, 2021, you must restart the applications.

  • Prometheus dashboards are supported.
