Whether you can switch directly depends on your instance configuration. Identify the scenario that applies to you.
If your instance runs MySQL 5.7 on RDS Basic Edition with standard SSDs
Change the storage type as part of upgrading to RDS High-availability Edition. When you modify the instance specifications, select Premium Local SSD as the storage type. This approach requires no separate data migration.
For step-by-step instructions, see Change the specifications of an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance.
If your instance does not meet the above conditions
A direct storage type change to Premium Local SSD is not supported. Provision a new instance with Premium Local SSDs, then migrate your data to it:
Create an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance and select Premium Local SSD as the storage type.
Migrate data between ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instances to transfer your data to the new instance.
