If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go disk, you can release it to stop incurring charges. When you release a cloud disk, the disk is deleted and all its data is erased. This topic describes how to manually release a cloud disk.
Subscription disks cannot be manually released. A subscription disk is automatically released when the instance to which the disk is attached is released.
Prerequisites
Releasing a disk permanently deletes all of its data. Before you release a cloud disk, we recommend that you create a snapshot to back up its data. For more information, see Create a snapshot.
The cloud disk that you want to release must be in the Available status.
Procedure
Log on to the RDS console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Storage and Snapshots.
On the Custom Disk tab, find the disk in the Available state that you want to release. In the Actions column, select .
In the Release dialog box, click OK.
