:Delete a snapshot

Last Updated:Nov 23, 2025

If you no longer need some snapshots or the number of snapshots reaches the upper limit, you can delete one or more snapshots to free up storage space and avoid being charged for the snapshots. This topic describes how to delete the snapshots of an RDS Custom instance in the console.

Usage notes

  • When you delete a snapshot, only the data contained in the snapshot is deleted. The disk from which the snapshot is created is not affected.

  • Deleted snapshots and the data contained in the snapshots cannot be recovered. Exercise caution when you delete snapshots.

  • When you delete snapshots, we recommend that you check and delete snapshots in all regions. You are not charged fees for snapshots only when snapshots in all regions are deleted.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB RDS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose RDS Custom > Storage And Snapshots.

  2. On the Snapshot tab, find the snapshot that you want to delete and click Delete Snapshot in the Actions column.

  3. In the message that appears, click OK.

Related API operation

You can also call the DeleteRCSnapshot operation to delete a specified snapshot. For more information, see DeleteRCSnapshot.
