You can manually attach a pay-as-you-go disk to an RDS Custom instance in the same zone to use the disk as a data disk. This lets you expand the storage capacity of the RDS Custom instance and meet new business requirements.
Prerequisites
The disk status is Pending Attachment (Available).
The disk and the target instance are in the same zone.
An instance can be attached only if it is in the Running (Running) or Stopped (Stopped) state, but not in the Locked (Locked) state.
Your Alibaba Cloud account does not have overdue payments.
Procedure
Log on to the ApsaraDB RDS console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Storage and Snapshots.
On the Custom Disk tab, in the Actions column for the target disk, click Attach.
In the Attach Instance dialog box, select the target instance and click OK.
If you release an RDS Custom instance, any data disk attached to it is also released.
