Scenario
An enterprise may have multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts and create multiple Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) under different accounts. Previously, when enterprise users use PrivateZone to manage private zones, they are required to create a private zone with the same name under each Alibaba Cloud account and then associate these private zones with VPCs. This is time-consuming and inconvenient, and affects the work efficiency of O&M engineers. In this case, Alibaba Cloud Domain Name System (DNS) introduced a feature to PrivateZone that allows you to associate a private zone with VPCs under multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts.
Procedure
1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. In the left-side navigation pane, click PrivateZone.
2. On the PrivateZone page, click Add Zone. In the dialog box that appears, enter a name in the Zone Name field and click OK.
3. On the All Zones tab, find the created private zone and click Bind VPC in the Actions column. By default, the available VPCs created under the current account appear in the Select VPC section.
4. To associate the private zone with a VPC under another account, click + Add account.
5. In the dialog box that appears, enter the username or email of the account used for logons in the Account field.
6. Click Send Verification Code. The verification code is sent to both the email address and mobile number of the specified account.
7. After the verification is passed, select the target account from the Select account drop-down list.
8. Select the target VPC from the list of available VPCs under the selected account.
9. Click Confirm. Now you have associated a private zone with VPCs under different Alibaba Cloud accounts.
Note
Billing rule: After a private zone is associated with VPCs under multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts, the PrivateZone service is charged to the account that owns the private zone.
Conflict resolution: When you associate a private zone with VPCs under multiple accounts, an error will occur if a target VPC is associated with another private zone. In this case, you can contact technical engineers through sales persons or by submitting a ticket for technical support.
