Use the Quick Purchase page to create a PolarDB for PostgreSQL (Compatible with Oracle) cluster in minutes with a minimal set of configuration choices.
Quick purchase limitations: Only PolarDB for PostgreSQL (Compatible with Oracle) 2.0 with Enterprise Edition is available. For other database engines or editions, use Custom purchase.
What you're creating
A PolarDB cluster includes:
One or more compute nodes (primary node and optional read-only nodes, depending on your deployment mode)
Shared distributed storage that all nodes access
A cluster endpoint for connecting your applications
Storage is provisioned automatically and billed by the hour based on actual usage — no pre-allocation required.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
A registered and active
Create a cluster
Go to the Quick Purchase page.
Configure the following parameters. Leave all other parameters at their default values.
Parameter Description Billing Method Select how you pay for compute resources. See Billing methods for guidance. Region The region where the cluster is created. Deploy the cluster in the same region as your ECS instances — cross-region access goes over the Internet and degrades performance. Database Engine Fixed to PolarDB for PostgreSQL (Compatible with Oracle) 2.0. Database Edition Fixed to Enterprise Edition. Network Type The virtual private cloud (VPC) and vSwitch for the cluster. If you have an existing VPC for your ECS instances, select that VPC. Otherwise, use the default VPC and vSwitch. Deployment Mode (Optional) The number of nodes and the high-availability (HA) configuration. See Deployment modes for guidance. Node Specification The compute specifications for the cluster nodes. To access specifications not listed here, switch to the Custom Purchase tab. Storage Cost Billed automatically based on actual hourly usage. No configuration required. For details, see . Optionally, expand More Configurations (Optional) and configure:
Parameter Description Resource Group Assign the cluster to a resource group for centralized management. A cluster belongs to only one resource group. For details, see Create a resource group. In the order summary on the right, confirm that Billing Method, Region, Deployment Mode, and Resource Group are correct, then configure:
Parameter Description Quantity The number of clusters to create. Maximum: 50 per purchase, 50 per Alibaba Cloud account. Duration Required only for Subscription billing. Enable Auto-renewal to avoid service interruptions from overdue payments. Review the total cost and billing breakdown (compute specifications, storage, and network). Read and accept the terms of service, then click Buy Now.
On the Payment page, confirm the order and payment method, then click Subscribe.
The cluster is available 10–15 minutes after payment. When the cluster status changes to Running, it is ready to use.
While the cluster status is Creating, it is not yet available. Make sure you have selected the correct region in the console — otherwise the cluster will not appear in the cluster list.
Billing methods
| Billing method | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | Pay upfront for a fixed duration. Longer commitments receive larger discounts. | Stable, predictable workloads over an extended period |
| Pay-as-you-go | Pay for actual resource usage, billed after each hour. No upfront commitment. | Fluctuating or short-term workloads |
To switch billing methods after the cluster is created, see .
Deployment modes
| Deployment mode | Nodes | HA configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Single-node Deployment | 1 (primary node only) | Single Zone, Hot Standby Storage Cluster disabled |
| Dual-node Deployment | 2 (primary + read-only) | Single Zone, Hot Standby Storage Cluster disabled |
| Cross-zone HA | 2 (primary + read-only); data distributed across multiple zones, with the primary zone and secondary zone each storing a full copy of data | Double Zones, Hot Standby Storage Cluster enabled |
For more information, see High-availability mode (hot standby storage cluster).
What's next
View and manage your cluster on the Clusters page in the PolarDB console.
Connect to the cluster from your application using the cluster endpoint.
If the quick purchase options don't meet your needs, see Custom purchase for the full set of configuration options.
