Object Storage Service:Why are two inventory lists of the same date exported?

Last Updated:Jan 03, 2024

This topic describes why two inventory lists of the same date are exported after you configure an inventory to export inventory lists by day.

Cause

After you configure an inventory to export inventory lists by day, the inventory list is exported at a point of time on the same day when background resources are idle to ensure user experience. The time interval between when the first inventory list is generated and when the second inventory list is generated may be less than 24 hours. The timestamps of inventory lists adopt GMT, which is 8 hours earlier than the Beijing time (UTC+8). In this case, two inventory lists may share the same date.

Example

You configured an inventory to export inventory lists by day at 18:00 on December 10, 2023 (UTC+8). The inventory task is immediately executed because the background resources are idle. The timestamp of the generated inventory is 2023-12-10 10:00:00 (UTC). The inventory task is then executed at 01:00 on December 11, 2023 (UTC +8). The timestamp of this inventory is 2023-12-10 17:00:00 (UTC). The two inventory lists are generated separately on December 10 (UTC+8) and December 11 (UTC+8), but the timestamps of both inventory lists are 2023-12-10 in GMT. Therefore, two inventory lists share the same date.
