Deep Cold Archive offers high-durability storage at low prices, designed for extremely cold data that must be retained over an ultra-long period. The following practices help you avoid unexpected charges.
Check minimum storage duration requirements before configuring lifecycle rules
Before configuring lifecycle rules that transition objects to or from Deep Cold Archive, verify that your data access and retention patterns are compatible with the minimum storage duration requirements.
To avoid unnecessary costs, make sure that objects before and after the conversion to Deep Cold Archive meet the minimum storage duration requirements.
The following table lists the minimum storage duration for each storage class.

Convert storage class via lifecycle rules
Upload objects as Standard first, then convert them to Deep Cold Archive using lifecycle rules. Direct uploads to Deep Cold Archive incur higher PUT request fees — when you convert via lifecycle rules, OSS charges PUT request fees at the Standard rate instead.

Delete Deep Cold Archive objects via lifecycle rules
Deleting a Deep Cold Archive object manually with the DeleteObject API incurs a PUT request fee on success. To avoid this charge, configure lifecycle rules to delete objects automatically. When OSS deletes objects using the ExpireObject operation through a lifecycle rule, no PUT request fee is charged.
