Scaling

Item

Option

Description

Effective time

Immediately

Scaling for a shared instance type takes effect immediately.

After approval

Scaling up an exclusive instance type requires manual approval after you submit the request. The approval process typically takes up to five business days.

Configurable item

Storage quota

The adjusted storage quota must be within the range allowed for the instance type. For more information, see OpenSearch Industry Algorithm Edition billing overview.

Computing resource quota

The adjusted computing resource quota must be within the range allowed for the instance type. For more information, see OpenSearch Industry Algorithm Edition billing overview.

Billing rule

subscription

If you scale resources for a subscription instance, the fee is calculated based on the price difference for the remaining subscription period. Scaling down results in a refund, while scaling up requires a supplemental payment. Formula: Fee = (Daily price after scaling - Daily price before scaling) × Remaining days. - If the remaining period is less than 365 days, the daily price is the monthly price / 30. - If the remaining period is 365 days or more, the daily price is the yearly price / 365.

pay-as-you-go

1. Log on to the OpenSearch console. In the upper-left corner, switch to OpenSearch Industry Algorithm Edition.

2. On the Instance Management page, find the target application and click More in the Actions column.

Item

Option

Description

Effective time

After approval

Changing from a shared to an exclusive instance type, or between different exclusive instance types, requires approval. The change takes effect after approval, which typically takes up to five business days.

Configurable item

Instance type

All instance types support this change. When you change the instance type, you must adjust the storage quota and computing resource quota so that the total price is higher than the original price before you can click Save. After the index rebuild completes and the new instance type is active, you can click Change Specifications/Quota again to increase or decrease the quotas.

Billing rule

subscription

If you change the instance type for a subscription instance, the fee is calculated based on the price difference for the remaining subscription period. A price decrease results in a refund, while a price increase requires a supplemental payment. Formula: Fee = (Daily price after change - Daily price before change) × Remaining days. - If the remaining period is less than 365 days, the daily price is the monthly price / 30. - If the remaining period is 365 days or more, the daily price is the yearly price / 365.

pay-as-you-go

After the instance type changes, billing is based on the new quota and instance type.

1. Log on to the OpenSearch console. In the upper-left corner, switch to OpenSearch Industry Algorithm Edition.

2. On the Instance Management page, find the target application and click More in the Actions column.

3. Select Change Specifications/Quota. In the dialog box that appears, select the new instance type, select the check box to agree to the terms of service, then click Buy Now.

Important
  • You can upgrade a shared instance to an exclusive instance, but you cannot downgrade an exclusive instance to a shared instance.

  • When you upgrade a pay-as-you-go shared instance to an exclusive instance, the upgrade requires approval. You are billed at the original rate until the upgrade is approved. Afterward, billing is based on the new exclusive instance price.

  • After submitting the request in the console to upgrade from a shared instance to an exclusive instance, you will receive a text message upon approval. Check your messages to avoid unnecessary charges.

  • The new instance type must have a higher price than the original. To scale down, you must perform two steps: first, change to an instance type with quotas that result in a price equal to or higher than the original. Then, after the change is complete, perform a second scaling operation to adjust the quotas downward.

  • Changing the instance type triggers an index rebuild. If you receive an "Application version limit exceeded" message, see the "Delete an application" section in Application details for instructions on how to delete the offline version. (Important: Ensure that deleting the offline version will not affect your business.) After confirming that only one online version of the application remains, you can change the instance type.
