You can delete a single object, multiple specified objects, objects whose names contain a specified prefix, or a specified directory and all objects in the directory.

Warning Deleted objects cannot be recovered. Exercise caution when you delete objects.

Usage notes

  • In this topic, the public endpoint of the China (Hangzhou) region is used. If you want to access OSS by using other Alibaba Cloud services in the same region as OSS, use an internal endpoint. For more information about the regions and endpoints supported by OSS, see Regions and endpoints.
  • In this topic, an OSSClient instance is created by using an OSS endpoint. If you want to create an OSSClient by using custom domain names or STS, see Create an OSSClient instance.
  • To delete an object, you must have the oss:DeleteObject permission. For more information, see Attach a custom policy to a RAM user.

Delete a single object

The following sample code provides an example on how to delete the exampleobject.txt object from the examplebucket bucket:

<?php
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../autoload.php')) {
    require_once __DIR__ . '/../autoload.php';
}
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php')) {
    require_once __DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php';
}

use OSS\OssClient;
use OSS\Core\OssException;

// The AccessKey pair of an Alibaba Cloud account has permissions on all API operations. Using these credentials to perform operations in OSS is a high-risk operation. We recommend that you use a RAM user to call API operations or perform routine O&M. To create a RAM user, log on to the RAM console.
$accessKeyId = "yourAccessKeyId";
$accessKeySecret = "yourAccessKeySecret";
// Specify the endpoint of the region in which the bucket is located. For example, if the bucket is located in the China (Hangzhou) region, set the endpoint to https://oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com.
$endpoint = "yourEndpoint";
// Specify the name of the bucket. Example: examplebucket.
$bucket = "examplebucket";
// Specify the full path of the object. Example: exampledir/exampleobject.txt. The full path of the object cannot contain the bucket name.
$object = "exampledir/exampleobject.txt";

try{
    $ossClient = new OssClient($accessKeyId, $accessKeySecret, $endpoint);

    $ossClient->deleteObject($bucket, $object);
} catch(OssException $e) {
    printf(__FUNCTION__ . ": FAILED\n");
    printf($e->getMessage() . "\n");
    return;
}
print(__FUNCTION__ . "OK" . "\n");

Delete multiple objects at a time

You can delete up to 1,000 objects at a time. You can delete multiple specified objects, objects whose names contain a specified prefix, or a specified directory and all objects in the directory.

You can also configure lifecycle rules to automatically delete objects. For more information, see Lifecycle rules based on the last modified time.

Delete multiple objects with specified names

The following sample code provides an example on how to delete multiple objects with specified names:

<?php
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../autoload.php')) {
    require_once __DIR__ . '/../autoload.php';
}
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php')) {
    require_once __DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php';
}

use OSS\OssClient;
use OSS\Core\OssException;

// The AccessKey pair of an Alibaba Cloud account has permissions on all API operations. Using these credentials to perform operations in OSS is a high-risk operation. We recommend that you use a RAM user to call API operations or perform routine O&M. To create a RAM user, log on to the RAM console.
$accessKeyId = "yourAccessKeyId";
$accessKeySecret = "yourAccessKeySecret";
// Specify the endpoint of the region in which the bucket is located. For example, if the bucket is located in the China (Hangzhou) region, set the endpoint to https://oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com.
$endpoint = "yourEndpoint";
// Specify the name of the bucket. Example: examplebucket.
$bucket = "examplebucket";

try {
   $ossClient = new OssClient($accessKeyId, $accessKeySecret, $endpoint, false);
   // Specify the full paths of the objects that you want to delete. The full paths of the objects cannot contain the bucket name.
   $objects = array();
   $objects[] = "exampleobjecta.txt";
   $objects[] = "exampledir/sampleobject.txt";
   $result = $ossClient->deleteObjects($bucket, $objects);

   foreach ($result as $info){
      $obj = strval($info);
      printf("Delete ".$obj." : Success" . "\n");
   }
   printf("Delete Objects : OK" . "\n");
} catch (OssException $e) {
   printf("Delete Objects : Failed" . "\n");
   printf($e->getMessage() . "\n");
   return;
}

Delete multiple objects with a specified object name prefix or in a specified directory

The following sample code provides an example on how to delete multiple objects with a specified name prefix and how to delete a specified directory and all objects in the directory.

Warning If the value of OSS_PREFIX is an empty string or is NULL in the following code, all objects in the bucket are deleted. Proceed with caution.
<?php
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../autoload.php')) {
   require_once __DIR__ . '/../autoload.php';
}
if (is_file(__DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php')) {
   require_once __DIR__ . '/../vendor/autoload.php';
}

$bucket = "examplebucket";

try {
   $ossClient = new OssClient($accessKeyId, $accessKeySecret, $endpoint, false);
   $option = array(
      OssClient::OSS_MARKER => null,
      // Specify the prefix of the names of the objects that you want to delete. If you want to delete all objects whose names contain the src prefix, set the prefix to src. After you set the prefix to src, all non-directory objects whose names contain the src prefix, the src directory, and all objects in the src directory are deleted.
      OssClient::OSS_PREFIX => "src",
      // If you want to delete only the src directory and all objects in the directory, set the prefix to src/.
      // OssClient::OSS_PREFIX => "src/",
   );
   $bool = true;
   while ($bool){
      // List and delete multiple objects.
      $result = $ossClient->listObjects($bucket,$option);
      $objects = array();
      if(count($result->getObjectList()) > 0){
         foreach ($result->getObjectList() as $key => $info){
            printf("key name:".$info->getKey().PHP_EOL);

   }
   printf("Delete Objects : OK" . PHP_EOL);
} catch (OssException $e) {
   printf("Delete Objects : Failed" . PHP_EOL);
   printf($e->getMessage() . PHP_EOL);
   return;
}
Note If an exception is thrown when you use try{}catch{} to catch errors, no objects are deleted. In this case, you can use $e->getMessage to obtain the error message and analyze the causes.
