Network Intelligence Service:Overview

Last Updated:Nov 14, 2025

The Overview page of the Network Intelligence Service (NIS) platform lets you view all features supported by NIS. You can quickly check the health status and potential risks of your resources. The page also provides a comprehensive overview of your Alibaba Cloud networking service resources and their details.

Global view

The data on the NIS Overview page is updated in real time. The following figure shows the layout of the page.

NIS feature navigation

The feature navigation section helps you quickly understand the capabilities and advantages of the product. You can find the features or specific operations that you need. For more information about the capabilities of NIS, see Features.

Inspection report

By default, NIS enables a free, basic network inspection task. This task performs a comprehensive network inspection every week and generates a report. The Overview page displays the results of the latest inspection by default.

巡检报告

View inspection reports

  • Click View Detailed Report For Network Optimization Suggestions to view the details of the latest inspection report.

  • Click View Historical Reports to view the details of historical inspection reports.

View resource statistics

  1. Log on to the NIS console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Overview.

  3. In the Summary section, you can view the number of Alibaba Cloud networking service resources in your account.

  4. Optional: In the Summary section, click Show Available Only to view networking services with a resource count greater than 0.

View the resource list

In the Resource List section, you can view the basic information about your cloud resources. The information that is displayed varies by resource type. The supported resource types include the following: VPC, vSwitch, Route Table, Application Load Balancer (ALB), CLB, Network Load Balancer (NLB), EIP, Public IP Address, IPv6 Gateway, NAT Gateway, EIP Bandwidth Plan, PrivateLink, Cloud Enterprise Network, Virtual Border Router, Standard Global Accelerator, and Basic Global Accelerator.

Note

Currently, only NAT Gateway instances and Elastic IP Address (EIP) instances support the instance observability feature. This feature lets you view instance performance or traffic data.

NAT Gateway instance observability

  1. Log on to the NIS console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Overview.

  3. In the Resources section, select NAT Gateway from the drop-down list and the region of the target NAT gateway.

  4. In the Instance Observability column of the target NAT Gateway instance, click Learn More.

  5. On the Instance Performance tab, you can view the performance analysis information for the NAT Gateway.

    • By default, the time range is set to the last hour. For example, if the current time is 17:30 on January 13, 2022, the default time range is from 16:30 to 17:30 on January 13, 2022.

    • You must select a continuous period for analysis. The start time can be up to seven days ago. The time range cannot exceed 24 hours. For example, if the current time is 17:30 on January 13, 2022, you can view data for a maximum of 24 hours, such as from 17:30 on January 12, 2022 to 17:30 on January 13, 2022. The earliest data that you can view is from 17:30 on January 7, 2022.

    Monitoring metric data

    Metric Category

    Metric Name

    Session

    • New Connection Rate: The average number of new TCP and UDP connections that a NAT gateway can create per second. Unit: connections/s.

    • Concurrent Connections: The number of concurrent TCP and UDP connections that a NAT gateway can handle per minute. Unit: connections.

    Bandwidth

    • Inbound Rate From VPC: The rate of traffic sent from a VPC to the NAT gateway per second. Unit: bps.

    • Inbound Rate From Internet: The rate of traffic sent from the Internet to the NAT gateway per second. Unit: bps.

    • Outbound Rate To VPC: The rate of traffic sent from the NAT gateway to a VPC per second. Unit: bps.

    • Outbound Rate To Internet: The rate of traffic sent from the NAT gateway to the Internet per second. Unit: bps.

    Packet

    • Inbound Packets From VPC: The number of packets sent from a VPC to the NAT gateway. Unit: packets.

    • Inbound Packets From Internet: The number of packets sent from the Internet to the NAT gateway. Unit: packets.

    • Outbound Packets To VPC: The number of packets sent from the NAT gateway to a VPC. Unit: packets.

    • Outbound Packets To Internet: The number of packets sent from the NAT gateway to the Internet. Unit: packets.

    Packets/second

The number of new connections established per second by an ECS instance that accesses the Internet through the NAT gateway.

EIP instance observability

Important

You can view the traffic statistics of an EIP only in regions or for IP addresses where the Internet traffic analysis feature is enabled. This feature is no longer available for new activations. To observe Internet traffic data, use the NIS Traffic Analyzer (Commercial) feature.

  1. Log on to the NIS console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Overview.

  3. In the Resources section, select EIP from the drop-down list, and choose the region of the target EIP.

  4. For the target EIP instance, click Learn More in the Instance Observability column.

  5. On the Traffic Statistics tab, you can view the inbound and outbound traffic information of the EIP instance.

    1. Select the Inbound tab.

To view the outbound Internet traffic of the EIP instance, select the Outbound tab.

    2. Select the 2-Tuple or 5-Tuple tab, configure the following parameters, and view the trend charts and traffic lists for inbound or outbound traffic.

      Configuration Item

      Description

      Time

Select the time range for which you want to view Internet traffic.

      • By default, the system selects the most recent 1 hour as the time range. For example, if the current time is 17:30 on January 13, 2022, the default time range is from 16:30 on January 13, 2022, to 17:30 on January 13, 2022.

      • You must select a consecutive time range for analysis. The maximum timespan of each time range is 24 hours. You can retrieve data within the last 7 days.
