Before you can use other recording features of a video device, you must set the retention period for the videos of the device to a value that is greater than 0. This topic describes how to specify the retention period of videos.
Background information
The retention period of videos specifies the minimum number of days for which the system retains the videos. The retention period of a video starts when the video file is generated. You can set the retention period of a video file to N days. After the retention period expires, IoT Platform deletes the video file.
You can specify the retention period of videos only for devices. All videos that are generated on a device are retained based on the specified retention period.

Call API operations
SetDeviceRecordLifeCycle: specifies the period of time for which you want to retain the videos of a device in the cloud.
NoteYou can set the retention period of videos to up to 3650 days.
QueryDeviceRecordLifeCycle: queries the period of time for which the videos of one or more devices can be stored in the cloud.
