You can select KMS API and KMS Instance API based on your business requirements.
Operation type | Description |
Management operations | For example, you manage resources such as keys, secrets, tags, and aliases. You can use only KMS API. For more information about operations, see List of operations by function. |
Service-related operations | Cryptographic operations: Only KMS Instance API is supported. For more information about operations, see List of operations by function. Secret retrieval: You can call the GetSecretValue operation of KMS Instance API or the GetSecretValue operation of KMS API. For traffic control, latency, and security reasons, we recommend that you use KMS Instance API.
