IPv6 Gateway:Billing rules

Last Updated:Jul 19, 2024

When you use an IPv6 gateway, you are charged an IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee. The IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee is billed on a pay-by-data-transfer or pay-by-bandwidth basis.

IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee

IPv6 gateways support the pay-as-you-go billing method. Alibaba Cloud charges an IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee for each IPv6 gateway on a pay-by-data-transfer or pay-by-bandwidth basis. Before you select a metering method, you must evaluate the maximum bandwidth and average bandwidth usage of your service.

Suggestions on the selection of a metering method based on average bandwidth usage:

  • Select the pay-by-data-transfer metering method for services with average bandwidth usage lower than 20%.

  • Select the pay-by-bandwidth metering method for services with average bandwidth usage higher than 35%.

  • Select a metering method based on historical service data for services with average bandwidth usage at a medium level.

Note

The billing of IPv6 Internet bandwidth and IPv4 Internet bandwidth are independent of each other. For more information about the billing of IPv4 Internet bandwidth, see Public bandwidth.

IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee: pay-by-bandwidth

IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee for each pay-by-bandwidth IPv6 gateway:

  • When the maximum bandwidth value ranges from 1 Mbit/s to 5 Mbit/s:

Bandwidth fee = Unit price for the bandwidth that ranges from 1 Mbit/s to 5 Mbit/s (USD/day per Mbit/s) × [Billing duration (hours)/24] (days) × Maximum bandwidth value (Mbit/s)
  • When the maximum bandwidth value is greater than 5 Mbit/s:

    Bandwidth fee = (Unit price for the bandwidth that ranges from 1 Mbit/s to 5 Mbit/s (USD/day per Mbit/s) × [Billing duration (hours)/24] (days) × 5 + Unit price for the bandwidth greater than 5 Mbit/s (USD/day per Mbit/s) × [Billing duration (hours)/24] (days) × (n - 5)

In the preceding formula, n represents the maximum bandwidth value.

  • Fees are charged and bills are generated on a daily basis. If an IPv6 gateway uses bandwidth for less than 1 day, the billing duration is rounded up to 1 day.

  • You can change the maximum bandwidth value of an IPv6 gateway anytime based on your business requirements. After you change the maximum bandwidth value of an IPv6 gateway, Alibaba Cloud charges the IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee based on the maximum bandwidth value within the billing cycle (1 day).

  • You are charged IPv6 Internet bandwidth fees based on a tiered pricing model with 5 Mbit/s as the standard bandwidth value.

IPv6 Internet bandwidth fee: pay-by-data-transfer

The data transfer fee within a billing cycle:
Data transfer fee = Unit price of data transfer (USD/GB) × Amount of data transfer (GB)
  • Fees are charged and bills are generated on an hourly basis. If the usage duration is less than 1 hour within a billing cycle, the billing duration is rounded up to 1 hour.

  • You are charged only for outbound data transfer. Outbound data transfer refers to the data transfer from Alibaba Cloud to data centers. Inbound data transfer refers to the data transfer from data centers to Alibaba Cloud.

  • Data transfer plans can be used to offset the pay-by-data-transfer fees of IPv6 Internet bandwidth. For more information, see What is a data transfer plan?

  • The unit price for outbound data transfer is fixed and does not vary with the maximum bandwidth value of an IPv6 gateway. We recommend that you set an appropriate maximum bandwidth value to avoid unexpected data usage caused by system errors or malicious requests.

  • The following table lists the unit price of data transfer in different regions.

    Note

If the regions and prices in the following table are different from those displayed in the console, the regions and prices displayed in the console shall prevail.
