IPv6 gateways are used to control the IPv6 traffic of virtual private clouds (VPCs). After you create an IPv6 gateway, you can purchase IPv6 Internet bandwidth for the IPv6 gateway and create egress-only rules. This way, you can control the inbound and outbound IPv6 traffic of the VPC in a flexible manner.
Regions that support IPv6 gateways
The following regions support IPv6 gateways: China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hohhot), China (Ulanqab), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), China (Guangzhou), China (Chengdu), China (Hong Kong), Philippines (Manila), Singapore (Singapore), US (Virginia), and Germany (Frankfurt).
IPv6 gateways of different editions
Edition | Throughput capacity | Maximum bandwidth of each IPv6 address | Maximum number of egress-only rules | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Pay-by-bandwidth | Pay-by-data-transfer | |||
Free Edition | 10 Gbps | 2 Gbps | 200 Mbps | 0 |
Enterprise Edition | 20 Gbps | 2 Gbps | 500 Mbps | 50 |
Enhanced Enterprise Edition | 50 Gbps | 2 Gbps | 1 Gbps | 200 |
Prerequisites
IPv6 is enabled for the VPC for which you want to create an IPv6 gateway. For more information, see Enable IPv6 for a VPC.
Create an IPv6 gateway
After you enable IPv6 for a VPC, the system automatically creates a Free Edition IPv6 gateway for the VPC. You can create IPv6 gateways of different editions based on your business requirements.
Modify an IPv6 gateway
After you create an IPv6 gateway, you can modify the name and description of the IPv6 gateway.
Delete an IPv6 gateway
If your VPC no longer needs to communicate with another network over IPv6, you can delete the IPv6 gateway of the VPC. Before you delete an Enterprise Edition or Enhanced Enterprise Edition IPv6 gateway, you must delete the egress-only rules of the IPv6 gateway. For more information, see Delete an egress-only rule.
- Log on to the IPv6 Gateway console.
- In the top navigation bar, select the region where the IPv6 gateway is deployed.
- On the IPv6 Gateway page, find the IPv6 gateway that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.
- In the Delete IPv6 Gateway message, click OK.
Change the edition of an IPv6 gateway
When you use an IPv6 gateway to communicate with the Internet, you can change the edition of the IPv6 gateway based on your business requirements.
- Log on to the IPv6 Gateway console.
- In the top navigation bar, select the region where the IPv6 gateway is deployed.
- On the IPv6 Gateway page, find the IPv6 gateway that you want to modify and click Manage in the Actions column.
- Select a new edition, select Terms of Service, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.
