You can use Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR) to back up shares of Cloud Storage Gateway (CSG). Then, you can restore the shares as needed. Before you back up shares of CSG, you must register a gateway.
Procedure
- Log on to the HBR console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- In the top navigation bar, select a region.
- On the Storage Gateways tab, click Register Storage Gateway.
- In the Register Storage Gateway panel, set the parameters described in the following table and click Create.
Parameter Description Backup Vault The backup vault to which you want to store the backup data. Valid values: - Create Vault: If you select this option, specify a name for the vault in the Vault Name field. If you do not configure this parameter, a random name is specified for the backup vault.
- Select Vault: If you select this option, select a backup vault from the Vault Name drop-down list.
Important After a backup vault is created, you are charged for the backup vault regardless of whether backup data is generated. For more information, see Billing methods and billable itemsVault Name The name of the backup vault. Vault Resource Group This parameter is required only if the Backup Vault parameter is set to Create Vault. This parameter specifies the resource group to which the backup vault belongs. You can use resource groups to manage resources owned by your Alibaba Cloud account. Resource groups simplify the resource and permission management of your Alibaba Cloud account. For more information, see Create a resource group
Data Redundancy Type This parameter is required only if the Backup Vault parameter is set to Create Vault. This parameter specifies the type of data redundancy for the backup vault. The data redundancy mechanism improves data reliability of the backup vault. - Locally redundant storageIf LRS is enabled, HBR stores the copies of data on multiple devices of different facilities in the same zone. This way, HBR ensures data durability and availability even if hardware failures occur.Important Data redundancy for an LRS-enabled backup vault is implemented in a specific zone. If the zone fails, the data in the zone becomes inaccessible. We strongly recommend that you select a ZRS-enabled backup vault.
- Zone-redundant storage
If ZRS is enabled, HBR stores the copies of data in three zones within the same region. If a zone fails, the data that is stored in the other two zones is still accessible.
For more information, see Storage vault types.
Gateway Cluster The cluster where the gateway resides. Use HTTPS Specifies whether to use HTTPS to transmit encrypted data that is stored in a backup vault. To ensure data security during transmission, we recommend that you transmit data over HTTPS. If you modify the setting of this parameter, the modification takes effect on the next backup or restore job. - No: HTTPS is not used to transmit data.
- Yes: HTTPS is used to transmit data.
Gateways In the list of gateways, select the gateway that you want to back up. Note You can use HBR to back up only standard and enhanced file gateways. After you register the gateway, HBR installs a backup client for ECS on the node of the gateway. On the Storage Gateways tab, you can view the installation status of the backup client for ECS on the node of the gateway. You can upgrade the HBR client based on your business requirements.
What to do next
On the Storage Gateways tab, you can also perform the following operations on a gateway:
Operation | Description |
---|---|
Check the installation status of the backup client | If the backup client is installed, the client status is Activated. If the client status is Failed, it indicates that the installation of a backup client fails. Follow the instructions in the error message to troubleshoot the error. After the error is fixed, choose in the Actions column. |
Uninstall the backup client | Choose | in the Actions column.
Delete the backup client | To uninstall the backup client and delete the gateway, choose Note Before you delete a backup client, make sure that the client has no backup jobs that are running or completed. | in the Actions column.
Configure the backup client | Specify the maximum number of worker threads, the maximum number of CPU cores, and whether to use HTTPS to transmit data.
|
View backup records | View the files that are backed up. |
Configure alerts | You can choose
| in the Action columns and then select a backup alert policy.
