:IPv6

Last Updated:Feb 26, 2025

IPv6 is introduced to solve IPv4 address exhaustion. Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) enables the IPv6 feature for all websites free of charge. You can use IPv4 or IPv6 addresses to access networks. After you enable IPv6, IPv6 clients can access ESA over IPv6. When ESA accesses the origin server, ESA carries the IPv6 information.

Introduction

Most points of presence (POPs) support IPv6. After you enable IPv6, clients can send IPv6 requests to the nearest POPs if the clients are in an IPv6 environment and the POPs support IPv6. If the nearest POPs do not support IPv6, the clients can send IPv4 requests to the POPs.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click Speed and Network, and choose the Network Optimization tab.

  5. Turn on or off the IPv6 switch based on your business requirements. By default, the switch is on.
