Overview
This topic describes how to configure file sharing and network disk mapping on a Windows instance.
Description
The two Windows servers that require disk sharing must make the following configurations:
- Enable the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service.
- Enable the inbound access on port 139 and 445 on Windows Firewall.
Perform the following operations:
- View the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Properties (Local Computer) dialog box to check whether the system has the following settings.
- On the server for which you want to provide disk sharing, right-click the disk that you want to share and choose Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing... to configure disk sharing.
- Name the shared folder. Example: 123.
- After the disk sharing is configured, in the run dialog box, run the
\\[$IP]\123command and Press the Enter key to open the shared folder on a Windows instance that can access the internal network within the same region.Note: [$IP] is the private IP address of the instance to which the shared folder belongs.
- To conveniently access the shard folder, you can create network drive mapping for the shared path file.
- After all the previous operations are performed, create a shortcut to the desktop.
- Double-click the shortcut to access the shared folder.
Note: Some carriers may block port 139 and 445 to make WAN inaccessible to the shared files. We recommend that you share files on Windows instances only in internal network.
