:Enable the telnet command in Windows

Overview

This topic describes how to run the telnet command in Windows.

Tips: This article takes Windows 10 as an example.

Description

The telnet command is not enabled by default in Windows. You can enable it manually as follows:

  1. Refer to remote connection to log on to the Windows instance.
  2. Click start, Enter control panel, and click Enter to open the control panel page.
  3. Click program > Programs and functions.
  4. Click enable or disable Windows, select the Telnet client check box, and click OK.
  5. After the installation is complete, click start, enter cmd, open the command line.
  6. Run the following command to test whether the telnet command can be used properly:
    telnet -help
