Data Management:Modify database instances

Last Updated:Apr 18, 2024

After you register database instances in Data Management (DMS), you can modify the basic and advanced information of a single database instance or the shared information of multiple database instances at a time. Basic information includes the database account and security rules. Advanced information includes the environment type, the lock-free schema change feature, and the query timeout period and export timeout period. This topic describes how to modify database instances.

Prerequisites

You are a database administrator (DBA) or a DMS administrator.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DMS console V5.0.
  2. In the top navigation bar, choose Data Assets > Instances.

    Note

If you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the 2023-01-28_15-57-17.png icon in the upper-left corner of the console and choose All functions > Data Assets > Instances.

  3. On the Instance List tab, modify a single database instance or multiple database instances at a time.

    • Modify a single database instance

      1. Find the database instance that you want to modify, move the pointer over More in the Actions column, and then select Edit.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, configure the parameters in the Basic Information and Advanced Information sections. For more information, see Register an Alibaba Cloud database instance or Register a database hosted on a third-party cloud service or a self-managed database.

        • The Basic Information section contains parameters such as Database Type, Instance ID, Database Account, Database Password, and Control Mode.

        • The Advanced Information section contains parameters such as Environment type, Instance Name, DBA, and Query Timeout(s).

      3. After you configure the parameters, click Test Connection.

        Note

If the test connection failed, verify the instance information based on the error message.

      4. If the Successful connection message is displayed, click Save.

    • Modify multiple database instances at a time

      1. Select the database instances that you want to modify, and then click Batch edit.

        Note

The database instances that you select must be of the same database type, such as MySQL.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, click the check box that corresponds to a parameter, and modify the instance information.

The parameters that you can modify include Database Account, Database Password, Instance Name, DBA, and Control Mode.

      3. After you modify the parameters, click OK.
