    No, you do not need to modify the Domain Name System (DNS) settings of Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances.

    To use Private DNS, you need to only activate Private DNS in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. In addition, use the default IP address 100.100.2.136 or 100.100.2.138 of DNS servers. After you activate Private DNS, you can add zones, configure DNS records, and specify the effective scopes of the zones.
