    Data Management:[Announcement] DMS MCP Upgraded to Agent Data Gateway MCP

    The former DMS MCP (alibabacloud-dms-mcp-server) has been upgraded to Agent Data Gateway MCP. The legacy DMS MCP will be discontinued on December 30, 2026. If you are using the legacy DMS MCP, complete the upgrade before this date.

    Background

    To unify identity, permission, security policy, and audit controls for data access, DMS has upgraded the former DMS MCP to Agent Data Gateway MCP.

    Built on Agent Data Gateway, the new MCP packages data asset discovery, permission queries, knowledge retrieval, and SQL execution into standard MCP tools. All operations follow the existing identity, permission, security policy, and auditing constraints of Agent Data Gateway, which helps you access databases hosted in DMS more securely and in a standardized way from AI clients.

    Upgrade window

    The new Agent Data Gateway MCP has been released. The legacy DMS MCP will be discontinued on December 30, 2026. Complete the upgrade before the service is discontinued.

    What is changing

    Compared with the legacy DMS MCP, the new Agent Data Gateway MCP changes the following aspects:

    • Product form: DMS MCP is upgraded to Agent Data Gateway MCP. The CLI and package name change from alibabacloud-dms-mcp-server to AIDBS-DMS Agent Data Gateway.

    • Data source onboarding: Synchronize DMS data sources to Agent Data Gateway before you use the new MCP.

    • Tool names: Legacy tools such as executeScript and getDatabase are replaced by new tools such as exec_sql and meta_database_search.

    • Resource identifiers: Legacy db_id, database_id, and table_guid are replaced by catalogUuid, databaseUuid, and qualifiedName.

    • Authentication: AccessKey pairs are replaced by access tokens. Include Authorization: Bearer <Access Token> in the request header.

    Affected users

    This upgrade affects you if either of the following conditions applies:

    • You have configured the legacy DMS MCP (alibabacloud-dms-mcp-server) in an MCP client such as Cursor or Claude Desktop.

    • You call legacy tools such as executeScript, getDatabase, or getInstance in your business code or agent prompts.

    If you have not integrated DMS MCP, you can use the new Agent Data Gateway MCP directly without upgrading.

    Recommended actions
