Data Management:Delete backup sets

Each time a data source performs a backup, a backup set is generated. This topic describes how to delete backup sets to reduce backup storage costs.

Usage notes

  • By default, the log backup feature is enabled, and you cannot disable this feature.

  • The retention period of log backup sets is 30 days and cannot be changed.

  • Log backup sets cannot be deleted.

  • You cannot restore a deleted backup set. Proceed with caution.

Delete data backup sets

You can manually delete a data backup set that is automatically generated or generated when you manually initiate a backup task. You cannot restore a deleted backup set. Proceed with caution.

  1. Log on to the DMS console V5.0.
  2. In the top navigation bar, choose Security and Specifications (DBS) > Disaster Recovery for Data (DBS) > Disaster Recovery Data Source.

    Note

    If you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the 2023-01-28_15-57-17.png icon in the upper-left corner of the DMS console and choose All Features > Security and Specifications (DBS) > Disaster Recovery for Data (DBS) > Disaster Recovery Data Source.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region and click the ID of the data source to go to the Data Source Details page.

    • Alibaba Cloud databases: On the Backup Data page, click the Logical Backup tab, find the backup set that you want to delete, and click Edit in the Actions column.

    • Self-managed databases hosted on Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, on-premises databases, and cloud databases from third-party providers (automatically backed up): On the Data Backup page, find the data set that you want to delete, and click Edit in the Actions column.

  4. In the message that appears, click Delete.
