Cloud Box:Terms

Last Updated:Aug 20, 2024

Before you purchase CloudBox, we recommend that you get familiar with the terms related to the service. This way, you can use the service in an efficient manner. This topic describes the relevant terms of CloudBox.

Deployment site

A deployment site is the physical location where the hardware devices of CloudBox are deployed. The deployment site must meet the requirements for power, network connectivity, and environment. For more information, see Deployment requirements.

CloudBox zone

A zone is a physical area within a region that has independent power grids and networks. A cloud box corresponds to a zone. The concept of a CloudBox zone is similar to that of a public cloud zone. The difference between the two zones is that a CloudBox zone is deployed in an on-premises data center and is used only by the user of the cloud box.

CloudBox rack

The computing resources, block storage resources, and Object Storage Service (OSS) in ClouBox are deployed in hardware devices in racks. A whole rack serves as a public cloud zone and is deployed to an on-premises data center. CloudBox is provided in a standard 42U rack and is installed and deployed by Alibaba Cloud. Alibaba Cloud provides maintenance services for servers and network devices in a rack. You cannot move or operate the devices in a rack unless you are authorized by Alibaba Cloud to do so.

SKU

CloudBox provides computing resources in compute stock keeping units (SKUs). Each SKU has different vCPU and memory specifications. A cloud box contains at least one compute SKU. You can select multiple compute SKUs of different types and quantities. For more information, see the "Compute SKU specifications" section of the Computing resources topic.

CloudBox host

A CloudBox host indicates a hardware host that is directly deployed in a cloud box and is designed for the user of the cloud box to meet specific resource configuration and management requirements. No matter whether you deploy an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance or dedicated host (DDH) in a cloud box, all resources that use the CloudBox host are exclusive to a single tenant. This ensures strong resource isolation and security.
