Cloud Box:Terms

Last Updated:Sep 27, 2023

Before you purchase CloudBox, we recommend that you get familiar with the terms that are related to the service. This way, you can use the service in an efficient manner. This topic describes the relevant terms of CloudBox.

Deployment site

The deployment site is the physical location where CloudBox hardware devices are deployed. The deployment site must meet the requirements for power, network connectivity, and environment. For more information, see Deployment requirements.

Zones for CloudBox

A zone is a physical area within a region that has independent power grids and networks. One CloudBox instance corresponds to one zone. The concept of a CloudBox zone is similar to that of a public cloud zone. The difference between the two zones is that a CloudBox zone is deployed in an on-premises data center and is used only by CloudBox users.

The rack of CloudBox

The computing resources, Elastic Compute Service (ECS), and Object Storage Service (OSS) in CloudBox are deployed in hardware devices. The public cloud zone is deployed to the on-premises data center as a complete rack. CloudBox is provided in a standard 42U rack and is installed and deployed by Alibaba Cloud. Alibaba Cloud provides maintenance services for servers and network devices in a rack. You cannot move or operate the devices in CloudBox unless you are authorized by Alibaba Cloud to do so.

SKU

CloudBox provides computing resources in compute stock keeping units (SKUs). Each SKU has different vCPU and memory specifications. A CloudBox contains at least one compute SKU. You can select multiple compute SKUs of different types and quantities. For more information, see Compute SKU specifications.
