Cloud Firewall:Overdue payments

Last Updated:May 13, 2025

If the total amount of the balance and vouchers in your Alibaba Cloud account is less than the fee that you need to pay, your payment becomes overdue. This topic describes the overdue payments for subscription and pay-as-you-go resources and how to view the overdue amounts.

Important

You are notified if your resources are about to be out of service due to overdue payments. To ensure service continuity, settle the overdue payments at the earliest opportunity.

Impacts

Overdue payments for subscription resources

If your account has an overdue payment, you can still use your Cloud Firewall. However, the overdue payment affects the normal use of the burstable protected traffic feature and causes the auto-renewal feature to fail. If you do not renew your subscription in time, Alibaba Cloud automatically releases your Cloud Firewall.

Overdue payments for pay-as-you-go resources

If your account has an overdue payment, you can use services such as extended suspension and suspension without service interruption. After your Cloud Firewall is suspended for 15 consecutive days, the system automatically releases the Cloud Firewall resources and stops all protection features.

Extended suspension period

When the system fails to deduct fees for your Cloud Firewall, Cloud Firewall that uses the pay-as-you-go billing method provides you with an extended suspension service. After the extended suspension period expires, Cloud Firewall provides you with a 15-day suspension without service interruption.

  • If your extended suspension quota is sufficient, you can receive a text message notification every day. You are still charged for resource usage within the extended suspension period.

    Note

Alibaba Cloud supports the extended suspension service. During an extended suspension period, you can still use pay-as-you-go resources if overdue payments occur and the overdue amount does not reach the extended suspension quota. Resources used before the overdraft threshold is exceeded are billed as expected. The overdraft threshold is not the maximum overdue amount that is allowed. The overdraft threshold is automatically calculated and updated on a monthly basis based on the consumption records of your Alibaba Cloud account.

  • If your extended suspension quota is insufficient, your Cloud Firewall is suspended. Cloud Firewall continues to run but no longer generates new bills.

Bill push

Cloud Firewall that uses the pay-as-you-go billing method is billed on a daily basis. Bills are generated and fees are deducted from your account balance at 18:00 on Day T+1. The following list describes the scenarios in which the deduction fails:

  • If the extended suspension quota is provided, Cloud Firewall continues to push bills during the extended suspension period. The last bill is pushed on the second day after the extended suspension quota expires. The fees for the day when the extended suspension quota expires are calculated on a 24-hour basis.

  • If no extended suspension quota is provided, Cloud Firewall pushes the last bill on the second day of the suspension date. The fee for the day when the fees are failed to be deducted is calculated on a 24-hour basis.

Service recovery

If you want to retain your configurations and continue to use Cloud Firewall features, settle the overdue payments within the extended suspension period. After the payment is complete, Cloud Firewall automatically resumes normal operations, and all features can be used as expected.

Resource release

If your Cloud Firewall remains suspended for more than 15 days (starting from the 16th day), the system automatically releases the Cloud Firewall resources and stops all protection features.
