Cloud Firewall:Changes to the elastic traffic processing feature of Cloud Firewall

Last Updated:Mar 18, 2026

Dear Alibaba Cloud user,

Effective March 6, 2026, Alibaba Cloud will enable the elastic traffic processing feature for all Cloud Firewall instances using the subscription 1.0 billing method and will adjust related policies. The details are as follows:

Effective dates

New users of subscription 1.0: 10:00:00 to 11:00:00 on March 6, 2026 (UTC+8)

Existing users of subscription 1.0: 10:00:00 on May 28, 2026 to 00:00:00 on May 29, 2026 (UTC+8)

Changes

  1. The elastic traffic processing feature is enabled by default for new users of Cloud Firewall subscription 1.0.

  2. For existing users of Cloud Firewall subscription 1.0, the elastic traffic processing feature is enabled by default. The option to disable this feature is removed, and the daily 10 GB of free overage for elastic traffic processing will be discontinued.

Impact of changes

  1. After 11:00 on March 6, 2026 (UTC+8), the elastic traffic processing feature is enabled by default for new users of Cloud Firewall subscription 1.0. If your actual usage exceeds the purchased bandwidth specification, pay-as-you-go bills are generated. For more information, see Pay-as-you-go for elastic traffic of subscription instances. To offset pay-as-you-go bills, purchase pay-as-you-go savings plans.

  2. After 10:00 on May 28, 2026 (UTC+8), the elastic traffic processing feature is enabled by default for existing users of Cloud Firewall subscription 1.0. The option to disable this feature will be removed, and the daily 10 GB of free overage for elastic traffic processing will be discontinued.

  3. Cloud Firewall instances whose actual usage does not exceed the purchased bandwidth specification are not affected.
