ApsaraVideo Media Processing (MPS) allows you to upload video files in the MPS console or the Object Storage Service (OSS) console. This topic describes how to upload a video file by using the two methods.

Upload a video file in the MPS console

Background information

You can specify a workflow in the MPS console to upload the video file that you want to transcode. The uploaded video file is stored in the OSS input path that you specify in the workflow. After you upload the video file, a media file is generated and displayed on the Media List page in the MPS console.

Prerequisites

A workflow is created. For more information, see Create a workflow.

Procedure
Note
  • You can perform multipart upload and resumable upload, and upload multiple media files at a time in the MPS console.
  • During an upload, you can switch to other pages in the MPS console. However, do not close the browser or access the consoles of other Alibaba Cloud services. Otherwise, the upload is interrupted.
  • If an uploaded file is not intact, the file may fail to be transcoded. Make sure that a file is intact before you upload the file.
  1. Log on to the MPS console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region from the drop-down list.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Media Management > Upload Video. The Upload Video page appears.
  4. Click Add Video.
  5. In the Add Video dialog box, set the parameters that are described in the following table.
    Parameter Description
Workflow Select a workflow from the drop-down list.
Add Video Click Add Video in the dashed-line box and select a video file that you want to upload.
  6. Click Upload.
What to do next

After the video file is uploaded, choose Media Management > Media List in the left-side navigation pane. On the Media List page, view or publish the media file that is generated after the video file is uploaded. For more information, see Media list.

Upload a video in the OSS console

Background information

You can upload video files in the OSS console to the OSS input path that you specify in an MPS workflow. After you upload a video file to the input path, the workflow is triggered to generate a media file.

Prerequisites
  1. Media buckets are added. For more information, see Add media buckets.
  2. A workflow is created. For more information, see Create a workflow.
Procedure
Note A workflow may be triggered multiple times to transcode an input file if you upload the file only once. If you encounter this situation, we recommend that you check whether the input and output paths that you specify in the workflow trigger an inner loop within the workflow. For more information about the workflow triggering rules for media files, see Workflow triggering rules for media files. In addition, check whether the code contains loop logic. For example, check whether the workflow is triggered again after a media file is generated for the video file. If the issue cannot be resolved by performing the preceding two checks, you can submit a ticket and provide the ID of your Alibaba Cloud account, the region in which you use MPS, the workflow ID, and the execution instance ID.
  1. Log on to the OSS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Buckets.
  3. In the field next to Create Bucket, enter the name of the bucket that you have added as an input media bucket in the MPS console. The bucket is displayed in the list below.
  4. Click the bucket name.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Set the parameters that are described in the following table to upload a file.
    Parameter Description
Upload To The directory to which you want to upload the file. You can upload the file to the current directory or the specified directory.
File ACL The access control list (ACL) of the file. Select an option based on your business requirements. Default value: Inherited from Bucket.
Upload Acceleration Specifies whether to enable the transfer acceleration feature for the upload based on your business requirements. For more information about how to use the transfer acceleration feature and the billing rules, see Transfer acceleration.
Files to Upload The file that you want to upload. You can click Select Files or Select Folders to upload the file, or drag the file to the dashed-line box. After you upload a video file, the corresponding workflow is triggered to generate a media file.
  7. Click Upload.
What to do next

After you upload a video file, a media file is generated and displayed on the Media List page in the MPS console. You can view or publish the media file. For more information, see Media list.
