:FAQ about sales, billing, and configuration upgrades and downgrades

Last Updated:Feb 08, 2024

Why am I charged even though I did not send or receive messages?

The messaging fees of an ApsaraMQ for RocketMQ 4.x Standard Edition instance is calculated by using the following formula: Messaging fees = API call fees + Topic occupancy fees.

If topics are created on an instance, you are charged for occupying the topics even if you do not call API operations to send or receive messages. Each topic is billed once a day. We recommend that you delete topics that you no longer require at the earliest opportunity to prevent unnecessary fees. For more information about topic occupancy fees, see Billing of the messaging feature.

Are services interrupted if I renew an instance?

No, services are not interrupted if you renew an instance.

How long does it take for a configuration upgrade or downgrade to take effect? What are the impacts of configuration upgrades and downgrades on messaging?

Messaging services are not affected when you upgrade or downgrade the configurations of an instance. However, a small number of duplicate messages may be produced due to cluster scaling during the upgrade or downgrade.

A configuration upgrade or downgrade takes only a few minutes to complete. After the upgrade or downgrade is complete, the new instance specifications immediately take effect.
