Causes

Before this notice is released, you can configure your ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance to support specification changes at renewal. In this case, you can change the specifications of your RDS instance only when you renew the instance. In addition, the new specifications cannot be changed after they are applied. To improve user experience, Alibaba Cloud no longer supports this feature since April 27, 2021.

Impacts

Starting April 27, 2021, no RDS instances support specification changes at renewal. You may have configured some RDS instances to support specification changes at renewal. The specifications of these instances can still be automatically changed when the next billing cycle is reached.

Suggestions

We recommend that you change the specifications of your RDS instance in real time based on your business requirements. For more information, see Change instance specifications. When you change the specifications of your RDS instance, you can specify the time when you want to apply the new specifications. When the new specifications are being applied, an instance switchover may occur. We recommend that you change the specifications of your RDS instance during off-peak hours.
