This topic describes how to apply for a public endpoint for an ApsaraDB for HBase Performance-enhanced Edition instance. ApsaraDB for HBase Performance-enhanced Edition instances can be connected over virtual private clouds (VPCs) and the Internet. To connect an ApsaraDB for HBase Performance-enhanced Edition instance over the Internet, you must apply for a public endpoint for the instance.

VPC
  • By default, ApsaraDB for HBase provides VPC-facing endpoints for instances.
  • Connections over VPCs provide higher security than connections over the Internet.
Internet
  • You must manually apply for a public endpoint for an instance.
  • We recommend that you use Internet connections only for debugging or testing and do not use them to manage your workloads in the production environment. If you connect to an ApsaraDB for HBase instance over the Internet, service performance cannot be ensured. Internet connections may compromise service performance due to network latency and limited bandwidth.

Apply for a public endpoint

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for HBase console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your ApsaraDB for HBase instance is deployed.
  3. Find the instance and click the instance ID.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click Database Connection. On the page that appears, click Apply for Public Endpoint in the Connection Information section.

  5. In the Apply for Public Endpoint message, click OK.

What to do next

You can view all the access endpoints of an ApsaraDB for HBase Performance-enhanced Edition instance. In the left-side navigation pane of the instance details page, click Database Connection and navigate to the Connection Information section. You can then view the VPC-facing endpoints and the public endpoints next to the Java API Address, Thrift2 Access Address Using Non-Java Language, and CQL Address fields.
