Overview
You can view the volume of DNS queries that are sent from the local DNS server to Alibaba Cloud DNS. The volume of DNS queries is not equivalent to the page views of a website but helps you understand the visits to your website. Alibaba Cloud DNS provides the volume of DNS queries for domain names and subdomain names.
Limits
This feature is only available to users of the Alibaba Cloud DNS paid version. You can buy the Alibaba Cloud DNS paid version .
You can view the volume of DNS queries within a maximum of 90 days.
Scenarios
The volume of DNS queries helps you predict the progress of DNS traffic destined for Alibaba Cloud DNS when you change a third-party DNS server to Alibaba Cloud DNS.
The volume of DNS queries helps you evaluate the health of your business. For example, if DNS queries suddenly increase or decrease, it indicates that your business encounters an exception.
The volume of DNS queries can be used as a metric of business development evaluation. By analyzing the volume of DNS queries for domain names, you can gain insights into your domain names.
Procedure
1 . Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.
2 . In the left-side navigation pane, click Manage DNS. Click the Query Volume tab.
3 . On the Query Volume tab, you can view the volume of DNS queries for primary domains that are bound to the Alibaba Cloud DNS paid version.
4 . On the Query Volume tab, you can view the volume of DNS queries for primary domains by specifying filtering conditions.
A: Click No Queries to retrieve primary domains that have no DNS queries in the last 7 days.
B: On the Query Volume tab, yesterday’s query volume is displayed by default. You can also view the query volume for today or the last 7 or 15 days.
C: You can specify a period of time to view the volume of DNS queries for primary domains.
D: You can download the DNS query reports for primary domains.
5 . Click Details in the Actions column of a primary domain to view the volume of DNS queries for its subdomains.
A: On the Query Volume page, yesterday’s volume of DNS queries for the primary domain is displayed by default.
B: To search for query volume by subdomain, you must enter the full subdomain name, such as www.dns-example.com. Clear the search box and click the search icon to view the volume of DNS queries for the primary domain.
C: Yesterday’s volume of DNS queries for all subdomains under the primary domain is displayed by default.
