This tutorial describes how to migrate data between Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets that are owned by multiple accounts or deployed in the same or different regions. This feature is not supported in Data Online Migration of the previous version. To proceed, use Data Online Migration of the new version.
Overview
Alibaba Cloud Data Online Migration provides a data migration channel between different storage services. Data Online Migration can be used to migrate data from third-party data stores to OSS or between OSS buckets.
To use Data Online Migration, you need to log on to the Data Transport console, specify information about the source and destination OSS buckets, and create a migration job. After the migration job starts, you can manage the job in the console. For example, you can view the progress and traffic information of the job. You can also generate a migration report to check the list of migrated files and the list of files that fail to be migrated.
If the source and destination OSS buckets reside in the same region, data is migrated over the Alibaba Cloud internal network by default. In this case, data is downloaded and uploaded over an Alibaba Cloud internal network. You are not charged for downloading or uploading data.
If the source and destination OSS buckets reside in different regions, data is migrated over the Internet. In this case, data is downloaded over an Alibaba Cloud internal network and uploaded over the Internet. You are not charged for downloading or uploading data.
For data migration between OSS buckets, the buckets in which Archive or Cold Archive objects reside are not supported as migration sources.
