Record Type List

PrivateZone supports the following record types.

Type Value Definition Description
A record A The Resource Records value cannot contain underscores () and can be blank. If you leave the Resource Records value blank, it will be displayed as an at sign (@), indicating the root domain. Points the domain name to an IPv4 address.
AAAA record AAAA The Resource Records value cannot contain underscores () and can be blank. If you leave the Resource Records value blank, it will be displayed as an at sign (@), indicating the root domain. Points the domain name to an IPv6 address.
MX record MX The Resource Records value cannot contain underscores () and can be blank. If you leave the Hostname value blank, it will be displayed as an at sign (@), indicating the root domain. A MX record must be a hostname, and cannot be an IP address. The priority can be any integer from 1 (highest priority) to 10 (lowest priority).
TXT record TXT A TXT record can contain letters, numbers, hyphens (-), and underscores (). The Resource Records value can be blank. If you leave the Resource Records value blank, it will be displayed as an at sign (@), indicating the root domain. A TXT record value contains one or more strings with a maximum total length of 253 characters. Valid characters include letters, numbers, spaces, and the following special characters: -_~=:;/. @+^! *
CNAME record CNAME A CNAME record can contain letters, numbers, hyphens (-), and underscores (_). The Resource Records value cannot be blank. A CNAME record value must be a domain name, and cannot be an IP address.
Pointer (PTR) record PTR A PTR record can contain numbers from 0 to 255. For example, 1, 1.2, or 10.23.234. PTR records can only be used in reverse lookup zones. A PTR record value must be a domain name and cannot be an IP address.
