Alibaba Cloud Function Compute is an event-driven and fully-hosted computing service. With Function Compute, you can focus on business logic development rather than managing or maintaining servers and other basic infrastructure. After code upload, Function Compute prepares computing resources for you and runs your code in an elastic and reliable manner. In addition, you only need to pay for resources actually consumed when running the code. No fee is incurred for code that is not run.
- Service: A service is a basic unit in resource management. You can perform such operations as authorization, log configuration, and function creation in a service. All the functions in the service share these settings. The number of functions that can be created in a service is limited. For more information, see Function Compute restrictions.
- Function: A function is a piece of code that is edited by a user, triggered by an event, and serves a specific purpose. A function is a basic unit in scheduling and operation.
- Event: An event is an action that can trigger the execution of a function. For example, an HTTP request to call a function can be regarded as an event. An operation that uploads an object to a specified OSS bucket and triggers function execution is also an event.
- Trigger: You can use a trigger to define and manage the event generation method. For example, when you create an OSS PutObject trigger and the object is put to a specified OSS location, an event is generated to trigger a relevant function.
