An error message indicating an activation failure is returned when I purchase a certificate. What do I do?

Last Updated: Jun 04, 2021

Problem description

An error message indicating an activation failure is returned on the Confirm Order page when I purchase a certificate.

Causes

The following list describes the possible causes of this issue:

  • You have not performed real-name verification for your account in the Alibaba Cloud Resource Access Management (RAM) console.
  • Your account is a RAM user, and the RAM user is not granted the AliyunYundunCertFullAccess permission to manage certificates.
  • The certificate that you want to purchase is a free certificate. SSL Certificates Service has a limit of 20 free certificates for each account. If you have already purchased 20 free certificates within your account, this issue occurs when you attempt to purchase another free certificate.

Solutions

You can use one of the following methods to address this issue:

  • Perform real-name verification for your account.
  • Grant the AliyunYundunCertFullAccess permission to your account to manage certificates. For more information, see Authorize a RAM user.
  • Log on to the SSL Certificates Service console to check whether the number of your free certificates exceeds 20, including the certificates in your closed orders. If you have already purchased 20 free certificates, you can no longer purchase more free certificates.

Application scope

  • SSL Certificates Service
