The minor engine versions of 20220630 and 20230830 for ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL have security risks. Starting December 13, 2023, the minor engine versions are discontinued. If your RDS instance runs one of the minor engine versions, we recommend that you update the minor engine version at the earliest opportunity.
Involved instances
RDS instances run PostgreSQL 11 or later and a minor engine version of 20220630 or 20230830.
You can use one of the following methods to check whether an RDS instance meets the conditions:
Go to the Basic Information page of the RDS instance to view the major engine version and minor engine version.
Use SQL statements:
Execute the
SELECT version();statement to view the major engine version of an RDS instance.Execute the
SHOW rds_release_date;statement to view the minor engine version of an RDS instance.
Update method
Update the minor engine version of your RDS instance. For more information, see Update the minor engine version.
Recommendations
Security risks exist in the ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL instances that run a minor engine version of 20220630 or 20230830. We recommend that you update the minor engine version to 20231030 or later at the earliest opportunity.

Impacts
If this is the first time that you purchase an RDS instance, you cannot specify 20220630 or 20230830 for the minor engine version on the ApsaraDB RDS buy page.
If your RDS instance does not run a minor engine version of 20220630 or 20230830, you cannot select 20220630 or 20230830 when you update the minor engine version of your RDS instance.
If your RDS instance runs a minor engine version of 20220630 or 20230830, the system does not force the update of the minor engine version. If you continue to use the minor engine version, security risks may occur. We recommend that you update the minor engine version to 20231030 or later at the earliest opportunity.
