Cloud Backup is an easy-to-use, agile, efficient, and secure data management service for the public cloud. It provides comprehensive protection for Alibaba Cloud ECS and offers three backup methods: ECS File Backup Essential Edition, ECS Backup Essential Edition, and standard ECS backup. Standard ECS backup includes ECS instance backup, database backup, and file system backup.
ECS File Backup Essential Edition: This edition is designed for ECS file backup. It uses a fixed backup policy and provides basic backup and recovery features.
This edition features one-click activation and requires no configuration. It performs automatic daily backups and lets you recover files that were deleted within the last 30 days. This edition is ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or developers. It lets you easily retrieve accidentally deleted or modified data to prevent business interruptions.
ECS Backup Essential Edition: This edition is designed for various ECS data protection scenarios. It uses a fixed backup policy and is available only by subscription.
This edition provides basic backup for files, self-managed databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server, and entire ECS instances. It meets the basic data backup and recovery needs of SMEs and developers. You can use this edition to protect your ECS data or meet compliance requirements.
Standard ECS backup: This option provides backup for components such as entire ECS instances, databases, and file systems. You can customize backup policies and use a range of enterprise-grade capabilities. The details are as follows:
ECS instance backup: This feature integrates with the Alibaba Cloud snapshot service to provide agentless backup for ECS instances.
For ECS instances that use only Enhanced SSDs (ESSDs), Cloud Backup provides instance-level crash-consistent and application-consistent backups. For ECS instances that do not use only ESSDs, Cloud Backup creates a snapshot for each disk to ensure the consistency of each disk.
ECS database backup: This feature backs up MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server databases that are deployed on ECS instances.
ECS file system backup: This feature backs up files on an ECS instance and lets you restore them as needed.
