Last Updated:Jan 21, 2026

This topic describes how to use vouchers.

What is a voucher?

A voucher is a type of virtual financial credit that Alibaba Cloud provides to customers. You can use vouchers to offset the costs of purchasing cloud products.

View my vouchers

On the Expenses and Costs > Account > Coupons page, go to the Coupons tab. You can view details for all your vouchers, such as their ID, face value, balance, applicable products, amount limits, status, and effective and expiration dates.

If you are logged on as an enterprise administrator, you can use the Account filter to view vouchers for other accounts in your enterprise.

Note
  • To become an enterprise administrator, you must enable Organization Management.

  • To query vouchers for other accounts, an administrator account must have permission to manage coupons and the corresponding financial accounts.

Use a voucher

On the payment page for a cloud product order, the system automatically matches applicable vouchers based on the Product, Payment Type, and Order Amount.

Only applicable vouchers are displayed below the order information. When you pay for the order, if multiple vouchers are available, select the one that you want to use.

Note
  • Only one voucher can be used per order.

  • If multiple vouchers are available, they are applied in the following order of priority: largest balance > earliest expiration date > earliest issue date.

  • If a voucher has a remaining balance after you pay for an order, you can use the balance for future purchases before it expires. If the voucher amount is not enough to cover the order, you must pay the difference from your cash account.

  • Select an available voucher on the payment page. Vouchers are not displayed on the order confirmation page.

FAQ

How do I get and view vouchers?

Vouchers are issued directly to your account. To view your vouchers, log on to the Alibaba Cloud console. If you use the new console, choose Expenses and Costs > Account > Coupons. Then, go to the Coupons tab to view details such as the ID, face value, balance, applicable products, and applicable scenarios. If you use the old Expenses and Costs console, click Coupon Management in the navigation pane on the left to view your vouchers.

What is the scope of use for vouchers?

  • Applicable products: Vouchers can be used for all products on the official Alibaba Cloud website, except for YunOS. Examples include Elastic Compute Service (ECS), Object Storage Service (OSS), ApsaraDB RDS, Domain Names, and Mail.

  • Vouchers for general-purpose products have the same scope as coupons. However, some products are not eligible. For a list of ineligible products, see List of products not eligible for general-purpose coupons.

  • Applicable purchase types: Vouchers can be used for new purchases, renewals, upgrades, operating system replacements, and converting trial instances to paid instances.

    Note

The applicable products and purchase types may vary for vouchers issued through different channels or promotions. The actual scope is determined by the applicable product and scenario information on the Coupons tab, or by the vouchers that are automatically matched on the Order Payment page.

Can I use vouchers for renewals?

Yes, you can. To use a voucher for a renewal, the purchase must match the voucher's applicable products and scenarios. You can log on to the console and go to the Coupons tab to view the Applicable Products, Applicable Scenarios, and Validity Period for your vouchers. A valid voucher can be used for a renewal if its Applicable Products field is set to the product that you are renewing or to General, and its Applicable Scenarios field includes Renewal or is set to General.

On the renewal payment page, the system automatically matches applicable vouchers. You can then choose whether to use an applicable voucher.

Can I get an invoice for the amount paid with a voucher?

Amounts paid with a voucher are not eligible for an invoice.

Are vouchers refundable or exchangeable after use?

Vouchers cannot be returned or exchanged once used.

For example, if you use a voucher to purchase an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance that is eligible for a five-day unconditional refund and then request a refund, the amount covered by the voucher will not be refunded, and the voucher will not be reissued.

Note
  • Starting from 10:00 (UTC+8) on November 20, 2025, Alibaba Cloud will gradually upgrade the refund rules for subscription products. If you use a voucher for a subscription purchase, a portion of the voucher can be returned to you if you unsubscribe. The amount is refunded based on the proportion of payment methods used. For more information, see Announcement on the upgrade of refund rules for subscription products.

  • Starting from 10:00 (UTC+8) on August 19, 2025, Alibaba Cloud will gradually upgrade the refund rules for public cloud resource plans. If you use a voucher to purchase a resource plan, a portion of the voucher can be returned to you if you unsubscribe from the plan. The amount is refunded based on the proportion of payment methods used. For more information, see Updates to resource plan unsubscription rules.
