This topic provides answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQ) about endpoint groups of Global Accelerator (GA).

If the region that my endpoints belong to is not included in the region list of GA, can I still use the GA service?

Yes.

You can select the region nearest to your endpoints when you configure the endpoint group. GA forwards requests to the optimal endpoint in the endpoint group.

How do I view the public IP addresses of endpoints configured for a GA instance?

You can view the public IP addresses of endpoints in a region in the GA console:

  1. Log on to the GA console.
  2. On the Instances page, find the GA instance that you want to manage and click Configure Listeners in the Actions column.
  3. On the Listeners tab, find the listener that you want to manage and click the endpoint group ID in the Default Endpoint Group ID/Name column.
  4. On the Endpoint Group tab, view the public IP addresses of the endpoints in the region to which the endpoint group belongs. Public IP addresses of endpoints

What backend service types does GA support?

GA supports five backend service types, but the backend service types supported vary based on the region.
  • If your backend service is deployed off Alibaba Cloud, the following backend service types are supported:
    • Custom IP address
    • Custom domain name
  • If your backend service is deployed on Alibaba Cloud, the following backend service types are supported:
    • Public IP address
    • ECS
    • SLB
    Note
    • You can specify ECS or SLB as the backend service type only if your account is added to the whitelist of GA. To specify ECS or SLB as the backend service type, submit a ticket.
    • Only an ECS instance or SLB instance that resides in a virtual private cloud (VPC) can be specified as an endpoint.
