This topic describes how to create a connection template for the source or destination database that you want to use in an extract, transform, and load (ETL) task.

Procedure

Note The following example shows how to create a connection template for a source MySQL database.
  1. Go to the Data Migration page of the new DTS console.
    Note You can also log on to the Data Management (DMS) console. In the top navigation bar, choose DTS > Data Migration.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where you create the ETL task.
    Note You can create an ETL task only in the China (Hangzhou) or China (Beijing) region. Select a region based on the actual scenario.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click ETL.
  4. On the ETL page, click Create Task (Pay-as-you-go).
  5. In the Input/Dimension Table section on the left side of the page, select MySQL and drag it to the canvas on the right side of the page.
  6. Click MySQL on the canvas.
  7. In the Input/Dimension Table: MySQL section, set parameters for the source database.
    1. Click the Node Settings tab.
    2. Click Create Template.
    3. In the Create Template dialog box, set the required parameters.

      Parameter Description
      Connection Name Enter the name of the database connection. We recommend that you specify an informative name for easy identification. You do not need to use a unique name.
      Access Method Select the access method of the database instance that you want to synchronize. Select one of the following access methods based on the actual situation.
      • Alibaba Cloud Instance
      • Self-managed Database with Public IP Address
      Instance Region Select the region where the database instance resides.
      Replicate Data Across Alibaba Cloud Accounts Specify whether you want to synchronize the database instance across Alibaba Cloud accounts.
      Note This parameter is required only if you select Alibaba Cloud Instance as the access method.
      RDS Instance ID Select the ID of the database instance that you want to synchronize.
      Note This parameter is required only if you select Alibaba Cloud Instance as the access method.
      Database Account Select the account that is used to log on to the database instance.
      Database Password Enter the password of the account.
      Encryption Select Non-encrypted or SSL-encrypted. If you select SSL-encrypted, you must enable SSL encryption for the database instance before you configure a DTS task.
      Note This parameter is required only if you select Alibaba Cloud Instance as the access method.
      Hostname or IP Address Enter the endpoint that is used to access the database instance.
      Note This parameter is required only if you select Self-managed Database with Public IP Address as the access method.
      Port Number Enter the service port number of the database instance.
      Note This parameter is required only if you select Self-managed Database with Public IP Address as the access method.
    4. Click Save.
